Police searching for shooter after man killed on Detroit's east side

A domestic situation at a Sunoco gas station led to the shooting, police said.

Police believe Menayette Yeager, 27, shot the man, who was driving a white Ford Windstar, near Mack Avenue and Sececa Street at 1:19 a.m.

The man continued to drive until he crashed his minivan into Greater Christ Baptist Church, police said.

“It was obvious that we were on the scene of a homicide,” a woman who witnessed the crash said.

The man, who was in his 20s, was pronounced dead at Detroit Receiving Hospital, police said.

Police said a truck they believe is connected to the shooting was towed from a nearby neighborhood.
