Royal Oak man dies after clearing snow from his driveway

ROYAL OAK, Mich. – A Royal Oak man died Tuesday morning after clearing snow from his driveway. 

Police were called to the 49-year-old man's home about 6:50 a.m. He was found unconscious inside the home in the 1100 block of Millard.

A family member found the man, called 911 and tried to revive him by performing CPR. However, first responders pronounced him dead at the home. 

Royal Oak police said the man had a history of health concerns. 

"Residents are reminded that snow removal is considered a strenuous activity and those with
health concerns should be mindful when shoveling snow or seek assistance," reads a statement from the Royal Oak Police Department.
