Metro Detroit weather: Slight chance of rain with a beautiful weekend ahead

DETROITThe sun will be coming and going today as winds off of Lake Huron will drag lake enhanced cloud cover across SE Lower Michigan throughout the day.

Those breezes NNE 5-15 mph gusting 20-25 mph may keep our North Zone in the upper 60s to low 70s into the afternoon, while the rest of us will see upper 70s and very limited rain chances today. The air is quite dry, but model data suggests a shower or two around the area around 2 or 3 p.m. Don’t cancel your Friday afternoon outdoor plans.

The weekend looks gorgeous as tons of sunshine fills the skies around Metro Detroit tomorrow after waking up in the comfy 50s. That sun will help many of us get to 80 degrees Saturday with our North Zone a little cooler as winds NNE 5-15 mph keep blowing in. Could be tough boating weather both today and tomorrow out on the big lakes. Be careful.

Saturday night will cool down again into the 50s making for more great sleeping weather and a picture perfect Sunday. Highs will hit the low to mid 80s but humidity remains low and breezes relax. Dry weather should stick around through Wednesday afternoon. Showers are possible late Wednesday into Thursday.
