DETROIT – Michigan State Police uncovered a fentanyl lab Wednesday morning as they raided a home in the 8400 block of Beaverland Street on Detroit's far west side.
One man was taken into custody and four children were removed from the home. The children were living in the home that has been deemed unlivable. They were released to their mother.
Neighbors said they noticed a lot of traffic at the home, but did not expect the lab because of the number of children that lived at the home.
Police plan to have the entire block closed off while the meth lab team decontaminates the home.
Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid which has been found in batches of heroin, causing deadly overdoses. Hazmat teams are on the scene, as fentanyl is one of the most lethal substances law enforcement can handle. It is 100 times more potent than morphine.
