Two men in critical condition after party bus shooting in Highland Park

Shots fired at bus from vehicle after altercation at hookah bar

HIGHLAND PARK, Mich. – Two men were shot Monday morning on a party bus in Highland Park following an altercation at a hookah bar in Southfield.

The bus was sprayed with bullets at about 2 a.m. at three locations in the area of Woodward Avenue and Monterey Street. 

“Apparently there was a party that went bad,” said Marli Blackman, spokesperson for the city of Highland Park. 

Police say about 40 people were kicked out of a hookah bar on Northwestern Highway Southfield early Monday for causing a disturbance and two women were arrested for disorderly conduct. 

The party bus left the hookah bar and authorities believe the a car followed them to the Highland Park location where an individual inside the vehicle started shooting at the party bus. 

Two men got off of the bus and ran toward the car the car that had been firing shots. They were both shot and are in critical condition.

Police say they believe they know the identity of the suspected shooters.
