DETROIT – Wayne State University announced Friday that it will accept donations in memory of Officer Collin Rose, who was fatally shot Tuesday night while on duty in Detroit.
Wayne State will use donations to support the Wayne State University Police Department, whose officers "work tirelessly and courageously to ensure the safety of our campus and community," the university said in an email statement.

Gifts can be made online here. Checks sent to the university should be made out to Wayne State University and indicate "in memory of Collin Rose." They can be mailed directly to WSU Gift Processing, 5475 Woodward Ave., Detroit, MI 48202.
The school said donors can also help through a GoFundMe account that was created by a WSU student.
"In the wake of Wayne State University police Officer Collin Rose's tragic death, many people have inquired about donating funds," Wayne State said in a statement. "We greatly appreciate the outpouring of support and generosity."
Rose was shot in the head Tuesday while trying to stop a man on a bicycle in Detroit's Woodbridge neighborhood. He was taken to Detroit Receiving Hospital and underwent surgery, but he died Wednesday.
Deangelo Lamar Davis, 31, of Detroit, is charged with Rose's killing. Davis is charged with first-degree murder, felony firearm, murder of a police officer, felony firearm, and felon in possession of a firearm. He was arraigned Friday morning and is being held in the Wayne County Jail without bond.
