DETROIT – It was between 9 and 10 p.m. Monday when Gloria Wright went to answer the door at her home in the 15000 block of Parkside Street on Detroit's west side.
That was when someone fired at least three shots from outside the home, killing Wright. The shooter took off on foot.
Wright's boyfriend went home to find her body in the back of the house and called 911.
Police don't believe this shooting was random. They believe Wright might have been targeted. She had been under investigation for domestic violence involving more than one victim.
"I can tell you that the victim has had a recent history as a suspect in two domestic violence incidents. So we're certainly investigating that aspect. It's still very early on," said Detroit Police Chief James Craig.
Family and friends of Wright gathered in front of the home Tuesday morning. They say they are devastated. Her son can't believe she's gone.
"Everybody that knew my mom ... she was a perfect woman. I love you ma, I love you to death," said Steven Spencer, Wright's son.
