DETROIT – A man in his 20s is dead after breaking into a home in the 2200 block of Grove Road in Detroit.
Police say the man tried to break into the house through a side window.
The homeowner, a 54-year-old woman, heard the man and went to another room to get a gun.
The woman warned the intruder she had a gun and was going to shoot him if he came into her home, but the man continued entering through the side window and the woman shot him in the chest.
The man ran but fell in the street. Police said he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
According to the woman's husband, this is the eighth time someone has broken into their home.
