DETROIT – Meet Watson. He's a cat with a disability - but that's not stopping him from enjoying life.
Watson was adopted by Melanie Lusnak from the Almost Home Animal Rescue League in Southfield, Michigan.
Watson was born with radial hypoplasia, a congenital disease that causes deformities of the limbs.
"I was looking to adopt a kitten and found Watson on Pet Finder,’ said Melanie. ‘I was looking for a cat with special needs as I had previously looked after a cat with a missing leg."
Watson struggled to do basic cat things, like roaming the house. "No matter how many pillows and blankets littered the floor of our house, Watson would still fall or stumble," she said.
Lusnak was able to find an animal prosthetist who wanted to help. Watson was fitted with front leg prosthetic boots.
"Even with prosthetics, Watson will not be able to walk, run, and jump like a normal cat," said Lusnak. "The position he is in does not lend to good posture, and just like with humans, this can lead to pain and discomfort."
