DETROIT – The No. 1 high school football player in the state of Michigan, Cass Tech wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones, committed Thursday to the Michigan Wolverines.

Peoples-Jones was one of the most dominant high school players in the country this year and is ranked the No. 11 player in the country, according to 247 Sports.

With Peoples-Jones' announcement, Jim Harbaugh continues to dominate recruiting in the state of Michigan, holding commitments from five of the top six players. Ambry Thomas, of Detroit Martin Luther King High School; Josh Ross, of St. Mary's High School in West Bloomfield; Jaylen Kelly-Powell, of Cass Tech; and Corey Malone-Hatcher, of St. Joseph High School have already committed to the Wolverines from Michigan.

Thursday marked the second straight day in which the Wolverines landed a top-notch receiver. Four-star Connecticut wideout Tarik Black committed to Michigan Wednesday afternoon.

The only five-star in Michigan's 2017 class, Peoples-Jones will help the Wolverines make up for the losses of fifth-year senior wide receivers Amara Darboh and Jehu Chesson and senior tight end Jake Butt.

Peoples-Jones is considered a player who could take on a significant role as a freshman.

The 6-foot-2-inch receiver had scholarship offers from 24 schools, but narrowed the list down to five finalists -- Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Florida and Florida State.

Peoples-Jones is the first five-star to commit to the Wolverines this season, joining 13 four-stars and eight three-stars. With 22 commits, Michigan owns one of the top 10 classes in the country.

Kelly-Powell is the only other Cass Tech player currently committed to Michigan, but there are four others on the Wolverines' roster. All-American Jourdan Lewis and starting safety Delano Hill both played at Cass Tech High School. Senior David Dawson is also a Cass Tech alum.

Peoples-Jones and Kelly-Powell will join former high school teammate Michael Onwenu on Michigan's roster next season.
