ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Michigan quarterback Shane Morris hobbled into Schembechler Hall Tuesday with a boot on, using crutches.
We now know the sophomore did, in fact, suffer a concussion Saturday when he was hit hard by Minnesota's Theiren Cochran. He would return to the game for two more plays.
Nearly 2.5 days later, in a 12:52 a.m. press release, Athletic Director Dave Brandon released a statement that reads in part: "As of Sunday, Shane was diagnosed with a probable, mild concussion, and a high ankle sprain. That probable concussion diagnosis was not at all clear on the field on Saturday or in the examination that was conducted post-game."
After the game, then again on Monday, Brady Hoke was still saying there was no concussion. By Tuesday's teleconference, he was done talking about it.
"Like I said, we put out a statement yesterday, and we're going to let it speak for itself," Hoke said.
Brandon was spotted Tuesday coming out of a back door at the football complex. It would seem, he's trying to keep a low profile, but his handling of this situation is topic #1 on campus.
"The fact that he released a statement at 1 a.m. speaks volumes," one student said.
As for Morris, he tweeted Tuesday: "I just want to play football."
