For the first time since the start of 2007, Michigan football is a top five team.
The Wolverines rose from No. 7 to No. 5 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll after beating up on Hawaii, 63-3, in Week 1. Michigan is ranked fifth behind Alabama, Clemson, Florida State and Ohio State.

Loses by No. 3 Oklahoma and No. 5 LSU allowed Michigan to move up two spots. The Wolverines also received one of 61 first-place votes. Alabama received 54 first-place votes, Clemson received two and Florida State received four.
Michigan checks in at No. 6 in the Coaches Poll behind Stanford.
After outlasting Furman, 28-13, in East Lansing Friday, Michigan State held steady at No. 12 in the AP Poll. The Spartans were jumped by Houston -- which upset Oklahoma -- Washington, Georgia, Wisconsin and Texas.

Nebraska was the only other Big Ten team to receive votes, landing in a tie for 32nd with 13 votes.
