Red Wings memorabilia from Joe Louis Arena up for bids

Auction ends Dec. 19

DETROIT – Red Wings fans have the chance to bid on a piece of history, such as a goal light or a locker.

“It’s like a Beatles song. When you hear it, or in this case, see it, you remember where you were when it happened,” said Tom Wilson, president and CEO of Olympia Entertainment.

Joe Louis Arena was home of the Red Wings for the past 38 years. Before the team moved to Little Caesars Arena, it hired a curator to catalog all of its items. The team took what it wanted to keep, and the leftovers are now available for fans to bid on.

Fans can go online to bidonthejoe.com to see more than 900 items available.

Bidding ends at 10 a.m. Saturday.

“Four championships have been won here, so getting any little piece of that history will be special,” Wilson said.
