Northbound I-275 between the I-96/I-696/M-5 interchange and 5 Mile Road now is closed following the three-month construction project and closing of the southbound lanes.
Crews are beginning the second half of the multi-million dollar highway repair project.
Traffic on northbound I-275 at the I-96/M-14 interchanged will be forced off and travelers will have to find another route.
Southbound I-275 reopened to traffic late last week.
Detour
The detour will be eastbound I-96 to northbound M-39 (Southfield Freeway), then westbound M-10 to westbound I-696, on to westbound I-96 or northbound M-5.

About the project
The $75 million dollar project will replace 88 miles of concrete pavement on I-275 from north of Five Mile Road to the I-96/I-696/M-5 interchange.
In addition to repairs on the main highway roads, the project will also include shoulder work on I-275, concrete repairs on I-696, and repairs on all ramps and 16 bridges.
The project will also focus on drainage improvements and intelligent transportation systems (ITS) work.
