Metro Detroit weather: Dry but chilly for family dinner Thanksgiving evening

DETROIT – Happy Thanksgiving!

The ride to grandma's house will be a breeze -- dry roads and chilly conditions. Speaking of which, breezes from the southwest will bring milder air for shoppers on Friday.

Thursday evening will be chilly and will become partly cloudy. It remains dry with temperatures in the middle and upper-30s.

Thursday night will be colder under fair skies. Overnight lows will be in the 20s to near 30 degrees. Any bargain-hunters spending the night outside their favorite store will need be careful and keep warm with heaters and tents. Keep any devices away from anything flammable.

 

Friday will be sunnier and milder. Highs will be near 50 degrees. Great day for hanging Christmas decorations and other holiday items. Good day to get some raking done or a quick run around the block to shed some weather after chowing down on Thanksgiving.

 

A weak cold front brings a slight chance of rain Friday night. The rest of the weekend will be chillier but seasonable.

 

Saturday will be partly sunny to mostly cloudy. Great weather for the Michigan-Ohio State football game. Kickoff is at 12 noon ET. Highs will be in the middle and upper 40s.

 

Sunday will be in the chilly 40s, too, with terrific travel-home weather in southern Michigan.

 

Monday and Tuesday will be sunnier and fall-like. Highs will be in the middle and upper 40s. Wonderful weather for outdoor recess for students returning to school.
