Metro Detroit weather forecast: As good as it gets!

But for how long?

No description found

DETROIT – Well now, what a spectacular day we’re having!  Temperatures in the 70s with sunshine, low humidity, and a light breeze are all the ingredients necessary for a splendid late-summer afternoon.  The fair weather cumulus clouds that popped up this afternoon (those “cotton ball” clouds) will fade away toward sunset, leaving us with clear night ahead.  Temperatures will fall nicely in the dry air, down into the mid to upper 50s by dawn (that’s 14° Celsius for our Canadian neighbors using the Metric System).  The air should be calm overnight but, if there’s any very light breeze at all, it would be from the south.

Sunny and just a touch warmer on Tuesday, with continued comfortable humidity…this may be the nicest day we’ve ever had for Frank Beckman’s annual March of Dimes Celebrity Golf Classic at Indianwood Country Club… just don’t forget the sunscreen!  I’ll be there, as always…and this year will be extra special since it’ll be the eleventh month in my quest to play twelve consecutive months of Michigan golf!  Highs in the low 80s (28° Celsius) in our Urban Heat Island near Detroit, and in the upper 70s (26-27° Celsius) outside of the heat island. South wind at 5 to 10 mph.  Tuesday’s sunrise is at 6:50 AM, and Tuesday’s sunset is at 8:21 PM.

Mostly clear Tuesday night, with lows in the low to mid 60s (17° Celsius).

Mostly sunny Wednesday morning, then clouds gradually increase Wednesday afternoon.  It’s going to be a close call with rain, as the far western part of our area could see a shower or thunderstorm by late afternoon, while those of us in the east may see it hold off until Wednesday evening.  Regardless, the bulk of the rain should hold off until Wednesday night, with highs Wednesday in the low 80s (28° Celsius), and lows Wednesday night an uncomfortable 70° (21° Celsius).

Shower and thunderstorm chances continue on Thursday, with highs in the low 80s (28° Celsius).

Showers end early Thursday night, and skies gradually clear.  Lows in the low 60s (16° Celsius).

Mostly sunny on Friday, with highs in the upper 70s (26° Celsius).

Mostly clear Friday night, with lows near 60° (15° Celsius).

Mostly sunny on Saturday…a spectacular summer weekend day…with highs near 80° (27° Celsius).
