Metro Detroit weather: Still some snow to deal with

DETROIT – Scattered bands of snow are making their way across the state from Lake Michigan. While many of us this mid-afternoon are only seeing flurries or very light snow, a few of us under those bands are experiencing a more noticeable snow. These bands will continue into the evening hours, and then show a diminishing trend. However, a more widespread area of light snow will likely develop toward morning. Most of us will see minor accumulations Friday night, but perhaps another inch is possible in a few spots if one of those lake effect bands persists over any particular area. Expect near-steady temperatures in the mid-20s (-4 degrees Celsius) with a west-southwest wind at 8 to 12 mph.

On Saturday morning, light snow should taper off fairly quickly, and the afternoon should be dry and mostly cloudy. You shouldn’t have much trouble getting around if you have errands or holiday shopping to take care of, and the same goes for Lions tailgaters.

Since the game is airing exclusively on Local 4, there will be lots of Lions parties all across town. Not invited to one? No problem. Order some pizza and invite some friends over! Nobody does a Lions game like Local. Our coverage starts at 4 p.m. Highs near 30 degrees (-1 degree Celsius) will actually feel relatively mild compared to where we’ve been recently. Wind will be light and variable, so you won’t even have much wind chill to deal with.

Saturday’s sunrise is at 7:56 a.m. and sunset is at 5:02 p.m.

It will be mostly cloudy Saturday night, with lows in the mid-20s (-4 degrees Celsius).

Mostly cloudy on Sunday as well, with just a slight chance for a late-day very light rain or snow shower. Most of the day should be dry, and it’ll be milder, too, with highs in the upper 30s (3-4 degrees Celsius).

Thus far, I don’t see any massive storms in our forecast for next week, so travel weather should be pretty good. Naturally, the Local4Casters will keep you posted on this. Highs overall should remain close to normal, at 34 to 40 degrees (1 to 4 degrees Celsius).
