Weather forecast: Summer continues across SE Michigan

DETROIT – We Local4Casters have a bit of a quandary in terms of how to frame this week's weather picture.

A lot of people are rejoicing in this extended stretch of late summer weather but, on the other hand, we desperately need some rain.

Of course, there are those who don't like warm weather and have been waiting patiently (okay, impatiently) for some nice, cool fall weather. But on the other hand, have you noticed the leaves changing already, and some even just shriveling up and falling off the trees? That is a key sign of stress, and the culprit is undoubtedly lack of rain. So there's a lot to think about during the week ahead.

Widely scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible today -- particularly this morning -- but the key word (as it seems to have been all summer) is "scattered." Not everybody will necessarily get any meaningful rain. In fact, more of us won’t than will. Highs in the mid 70s (25 degrees Celsius). Northwest to north wind at 4 to 8 mph. Mostly cloudy tonight, with lows near 60 degrees (16 degrees Celsius).

Tuesday forecast

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are once again possible on Tuesday and, if you don't get rain today or Tuesday, then forget about getting any through the weekend. Highs Tuesday in the mid 70s (25 degrees Celsius). Becoming partly cloudy Tuesday night, with lows in the low 60s (16 degrees Celsius).

Rest of week forecast

The rest of the forecast is pretty simple: expect lots of sunshine Wednesday through Sunday, with highs generally in the low 80s (27-29 degrees Celsius), and overnight lows in the low to mid 60s (16-18 degrees Celsius).
