CAIR members said the early stages of planning for the school went smoothly, but then the township turned downed plans, citing traffic and construction concerns.
The lawsuit claims that was not the real reason for the zoning request denial, saying a planning commissioner was concerned the Islamic school would force a decline in neighboring property values.
Pittsfield Township officials have not commented on the lawsuit.
