ANN ARBOR – Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley has raised $1 million toward affordable homeownership since opening its Habitat ReStore at 17 Aprill Drive.
Operating since 2006, all net proceeds from the retailer are re-invested in Washtenaw County through the nonprofit's Home Ownership Program.

On Dec. 12, the University of Michigan Navy ROTC will be volunteering. For more than three years, U-M Navy ROTC has been partnering with the ReStore, and each time they bring approximately 50 volunteers. So far this year, they have already contributed 180 hours of volunteer work at the retail store.
“Michigan’s Naval ROTC program loves the opportunity that Habitat for Humanity gives us to make an impact on our community and support such an important mission,” said Navy ROTC volunteer Helen Galliani.

Habitat's ReStore is open to the public 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Thursday - Saturday and features 15,000 square feet of retail space. It has also diverted more than 8,700 tons of waste material by recycling household goods for sale to the public since it opened.
“The ReStore is an incredibly important arm of Habitat, helping the general public to improve their homes by purchasing gently used materials, helping Habitat generate important revenue to support our mission, all while employing residents and utilizing volunteers in important work,” said Sarah Stanton, Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley executive director.
Over the years, many local companies have partnered with Habitat, including:
- Big George's - more than $30,000 in donations over five years
