ANN ARBOR, Mich. – All proceeds from special tattoos done Oct. 19 at Ann Arbor's Lucky Monkey Tattoo and its sister shop, Lovely Monkey Tattoo and Piercing in Whitmore Lake, will be donated to an organization that helps homeless people.

Heart Key tattoos will be $50. Money from the sales will go to Avalon Housing, a charity that builds housing communities for the homeless.

The design, which is about 2 inches big, is available on a walk-in basis only. They will only be tattooed on legs and arms.

Lucky Monkey Tattoo's Carrie Metz-Caporusso designed the tattoo.

She said she chose Avalon House to benefit from the tattoos because of a "severe lack of affordable housing in the Ann Arbor area."

"We chose the Heart Key design to represent the phrase 'Home is where the heart is' and because everyone deserves a safe place of their own," she said.

Metz-Caporusso has a goal of raising $1 million for charities. She has held other tattoo fundraisers, raising $22,000 for an organization that fights for the rights of people who are transgender, a foundation that helps sexual assault survivors and a fund for victims of the Flint water crisis.

Lucky Monkey Tattoo is located at 3024 Packard Street in Ann Arbor. The shop is open from 12:30-8 p.m.

Lovely Monkey Tattoo is located at 9541 Main Street in Whitmore Lake. The shop is open from noon to 7 p.m.
