YORK TOWNSHIP, Mich. – An oncoming driver and three dogs were killed Tuesday when one of the six dogs inside a woman’s car jumped into her lap and caused her to cross the center line and crash head-on into another vehicle in Washtenaw County, police said.
A 71-year-old woman was driving east on Willis Road in York Township around 5:35 p.m. Tuesday with six dogs inside the car, according to authorities.

One of the dogs jumped into the woman’s lap when she was near Bolla Road, causing her to lose control and cross the center line, police said. She crashed head-on into a westbound vehicle driven by Cyril Berry Jr., 73, of York Township, officials said.
Berry died from his injuries on the way to a nearby hospital, medical officials said.
Three dogs were killed in the crash, police said. The other three dogs were turned over to the Humane Society of Huron Valley, according to authorities.
Police said the woman was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
