ANN ARBOR, Mich. – A Toledo man who has recently been linked to two robberies and an attempted robbery at Ann Arbor banks was finally arrested after he forced customers at an Ohio bank to get on the ground at gunpoint and later led police on a chase into a field, authorities said.

Scott Kelly Hansen, 62, of Toledo, entered the Civista Bank on Milan Avenue in Norwalk, Ohio, around 11:20 a.m. Thursday (Aug. 25), according to officials.
Police said Hansen aimed a loaded pistol at customers and tellers while ordering everyone down on the ground.
He walked behind the teller line, but that bank branch didn’t having any funds in the drawers, authorities said. Hansen told the bank manager to open the teller cash recycler, and it took him awhile to get funds out of the machine, according to police.
Officials said Hansen eventually fled the bank with two containers of cash.
Police chase leads to arrest
One of the customers from the bank told police that Hansen had gotten into his vehicle at the next-door McDonald’s, and that customers provided information about the vehicle and its direction.
Norwalk detectives located Hansen and his vehicle heading south on U.S. 250 and tried to stop him, they said. He fled west on U.S. 20 and turned down a dead end road in an effort to escape officers, according to authorities.
Police followed Hansen, so he parked in a field and got out with his hand up. He was taken into custody without further incident.
Officers said they found the loaded gun and both containers of cash.
Police interview
Police said Hansen admitted to the Civista Bank robbery during an interview with police.
He also admitted to robbing a Chase Bank and a Fifth-Third Bank in Ann Arbor, as well as trying to rob the same Fifth-Third Bank a second time, according to authorities.
Hansen has three previous federal bank robbery convictions dating back to the 1980s, officials said.
He was charged locally and taken to the Huron County Jail. He is expected to be brough back to Toledo, according to the FBI.
Authorities are seeking federal charges against Hansen for the Ann Arbor bank robberies.
Ann Arbor robberies
Hansen is accused of entering the Fifth Third Bank at 3315 Washtenaw Avenue at 1:36 p.m. July 29. He showed a handgun to the teller and demanded money, authorities said.
After he received the money, he fled on foot, according to police. No injuries were reported.
Hansen had already been linked to a July 16 robbery at Chase Bank on East Stadium Boulevard. That day, he is accused of walking into the bank around 9:40 a.m. and demanding money from the teller, officials said.
He implied that he was armed, but no weapons were seen, according to authorities. Nobody was injured.
Attempted bank robbery in Ann Arbor
Police were called around noon Aug. 23 to the same Fifth Third Bank on Washtenaw Avenue.
Officials said Hansen walked into the bank and an employee recognized him as the same person who had robbed the bank on July 29.
The employee fled to another room inside the bank, and Hansen fled toward Washtenaw Avenue, officials said.
