Nationwide survey ranks 13 U of M Medical School programs among top 10 in their categories

6 other programs ranked among top 20

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – A nationwide survey ranked 13 University of Michigan Medical School programs among the top 10 in their specific categories.

The 2022 Doximity Residency Navigator survey ranked Michigan’s surgery program No. 1 out of 345 residency programs. Otolaryngology ranked No. 2 out of 128 programs, and urology ranked No. 2 out of 246 programs.

Michigan’s plastic surgery program ranked No. 3 out of 86 residency programs.

“Doximity’s Residency Navigator results highlight that the excellence of Michigan Medicine’s graduate medical education programs are broadly recognized,” said Debra F. Weinstein, M.D., executive vice dean for academic affairs at the U-M Medical School and chief academic officer for Michigan Medicine. “We are proud that so many of our programs are recognized as being among the very best, and we will continue to work to optimize the experience of everyone who trains here.”

Here are Michigan’s other top-10 programs:

  • Anesthesiology (7th)
  • Dermatology (10th)
  • Internal medicine (7th)
  • Med-peds (7th)
  • Neurology (9th)
  • Obstetrics and gynecology (9th)
  • Ophthalmology (6th)
  • Pathology (Clinical) (4th)
  • Radiology-oncology (8th)

Six other programs were ranked among the top 20:

  • Child neurology (20th)
  • Emergency medicine (12th)
  • Neurosurgery (14th)
  • Pediatrics (17th)
  • Psychiatry (19th)
  • Radiology (12th)

Doximity is the largest online professional network for physicians in the United States. Its physician database includes every U.S. physician, as identified by their National Provider Identifier number.
