Ann Arbor took the lead with 31,394 people aged 18-24 moving into the city, outpacing Provo, Utah and Boulder, Colorado. In total, nearly 36 percent of the population is part of the Gen Z generation, and just over 26 percent of that amount was Gen Zers moving into town.
To find the top Gen Z cities, editors at Smart Asset looked at data found in the Data comes from the U.S. Census Bureau 1-Year American Community Survey for 2022. It narrowed down locations to cities with a population of 100,000 or more, and ranked them according to the percentage of Gen Zers in the total population in 2022.
Members of the “digital native” population were born between the mid-1990s and early 2010s.
