However, the sheriff’s office has identified the person involved, and the investigation is ongoing.

Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the area of Prospect Road and Park Lane in Superior Township around 8:20 a.m. on Sunday (Jan. 21).

Officials said a 53-year-old Ypsilanti woman walking on Prospect Road was struck during the night and left near the side of the road. Passersby later found her.

The vehicle in the hit-and-run left the scene heading north on Prospect Road towards Geddes Road.

Police said that car parts found at the scene led them to believe the SUV involved was a white, 2020 Grand Cherokee of an unknown model.

It would have damage to the passenger side of the front hood, the grill and the quarter panel area, according to authorities.
