Ann Arbor to open early voting centers ahead of presidential primary elections

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Tree Town residents can vote for the presidential primary election ahead of election day this year at six new early voting centers around Ann Arbor.

Mayor Christopher Taylor will kick off early voting by submitting his ballot at 8 a.m. at Larcom City Hall on Saturday, Feb. 17, city officials said in a notice.

Early voting is new to Ann Arbor this year as the Michigan state constitution now requires cities and townships to offer early voting options to residents for state and federal elections. Early voting locations must be open for nine consecutive days between the second Saturday before an election and the Sunday immediately beforehand.

Centers in Ann Arbor will be open between Saturday, Feb. 17, and Sunday, Feb. 25. Election day is Tuesday, Feb. 27.

These are the locations and hours:

  • Larcom City Hall | 301 E. Huron St. | 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • University of Michigan Museum of Art | 525 S. State St. | 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.
  • U-M Pierpont Commons/Duderstadt Center | 2101 Bonisteel Blvd. |  11 a.m. - 7 p.m.
  • AADL Traverwood Library Branch | 3333 Traverwood Dr. | 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.
  • AADL Malletts Creek Library Branch | 3090 E. Eisenhower Pkwy. | 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.
  • AADL Westgate Library Branch | 2503 Jackson Ave. | 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.

Registered voters in Ann Arbor are still able to vote at their assigned polling station on election day. or in advance through an absentee ballot.

Those with questions, who need to register to vote or turn in absentee ballots can call the Ann Arbor City Clerks Office at 734-794--6140, email cityclerk@a2gov.org or visit the office at 301 E. Huron St. between 8 a.m. and noon, or 1 - 5 p.m. on Monday through Friday.

The Clerk’s Office will also be open on Saturday, Feb. 17, and Saturday, Feb. 24, before the election.
