He will join A2SO in playing pieces from Beethoven and Brahms, among others.

“Eric is a phenomenal musician in addition to being a close friend. His dazzling command of his instrument and exceptional musicianship makes any performance a thrill to behold. I’m excited to rekindle our artistic collaboration and showcase his abilities to our wonderfully supportive Ann Arbor audiences,” said A2SO Music Director Earl Lee.

Tickets for Friday’s 8 p.m. concert range from $15-$90 each. Discounts are available for children and students. Reserve them here.

Here are the details:

  • Johannes Brahms | Hungarian Dance No. 1
  • Ludwig van Beethoven | Piano Concerto No. 4
  • Zhou Tian | Transcend
  • Maurice Ravel | La valse

Lu will then perform a free recital on Sunday at 4 p.m. at the University of Michigan’s Britton Recital Hall. It is open to the public and tickets are not required.

“The Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra is delighted to partner with U-M SMTD to bring Eric Lu’s talents to as broad an audience as possible. We’re fortunate to enjoy a rich and supportive relationship with SMTD, and the opportunity for our soloists to engage with students and the community represents a crucial facet of our mission,” said A2SO Executive Director Sarah Calderini.
