YPSILANTI, Mich. – Teams of Washtenaw County women will gather on Friday to build a home for a Ypsilanti family kicking off the 2024 Women Build campaign for Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley.

The International Women’s Day event is part of the organization’s annual initiative to encourage local women to work together to donate and build homes for area families in need.

Starting at 9 a.m., teams will build up the walls of an energy-efficient project at 966 N. Prospect Rd. in Ypsilanti for a future buyer.

Those interested in participating throughout March can create a team of 8-10 friends, family or colleagues, and sign up for a “Build” day on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

In 2023, 110 women volunteered for more than 740 hours to raise $70,000 for the campaign.
