Meet two pups who have been at the Humane Society of Huron Valley for almost a year

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Two adorable dogs at the Humane Society of Huron Valley have been looking for homes for nearly a year.

The Cherry Road shelter houses hundreds of animals every year. Some of those animals, like puppies and kittens, find homes quickly. Others don’t.

Bridgette and Skeeter are two pups who have been at the shelter for a very long time despite HSHV’s best efforts.

Both of these dogs are part of HSHV’s Gold Hearts Club which means their adoption fees have been waived.

Here’s a bit about each pooch:

Bridgette

Bridgette has been at HSHV for 11 months, which is a long time considering she is just two-and-a-half years old.

HSHV staff said she is goofy and playful but will need an active owner who can play with her. That said, this ball of energy can also be a snuggle bug and enjoys one-on-one time.

Because of her enthusiasm for the game of chase, Bridgette isn’t a good fit for homes with cats or young children. She would do well with another dog but would need to meet any potential roommates at HSHV.

“Let Bridgette’s bubbly personality float into your life! She will be a wonderful companion who will shower you with love, and bring so much joy and laughter into your life. With a little bit of time to settle in, Bridgette will surely blossom into your best friend!”

Skeeter

Skeeter has been at HSHV for almost 300 days. The nearly five-year-old pitbull mix is an affectionate but quiet “old soul,” according to the shelter. She knows basic commands, rarely barks and would enjoy green space for playing.

Skeeter tends to carry around her toys and likes to look out the window. Although she is well-behaved, she needs a home without young children.

Here’s what her foster home has to say:

“She will happily greet you each time you come home with a wiggle and a smile. We leave her out in the house when we aren’t home and haven’t had any issues. She follows sit, stay, and come commands and listens when you speak to her. She’s still a bit wary of loud noises and sudden movements but overall is doing great. I think Skeeter would make someone a perfect companion given the chance.”
