ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Michigan is hiring Florida Atlantic’s Dusty May as its next head basketball coach, according to reports.
May, 47, is one of the hottest names in the coaching carousel this offseason after leading the Owls to a Final Four appearance in the 2023 NCAA Tournament.
ESPN basketball insider Adrian Wojnarowski reports May has agreed to become Michigan’s next head coach. The report says a “long-term contract” is being worked out Saturday night.
Florida Atlantic was bounced from the first round of the tournament Friday by Northwestern in overtime after going 25-8 and earning a No. 8 seed.
Michigan fired Juwan Howard after a miserable 8-24 season that landed them in last place in the Big Ten. The Wolverines missed the NCAA Tournament for the second-straight year after making it 10 of 11 times.
