Report: Michigan Wolverines safety Rod Moore sidelined for rest of season with ACL tear

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – According to reports, Michigan Wolverines standout safety Rod Moore will miss the 2024 season after he tore his ACL in practice.

Multiple outlets reported Monday (March 25) night that the three-year starter suffered the injury Sunday during a team practice.

Moore was expected to go pro after Team 144 captured the College Football Playoff National Championship as one of the many Wolverines to enter the 2024 NFL draft in downtown Detroit, but he opted to return for his senior year.

The loss is massive for what was being called “The best secondary in college football,” especially since junior safety Keon Sabb entered the transfer portal and has since joined the Alabama Crimson Tide.

The former three-star recruit out of Ohio was a key cog in the vaunted Wolverines defense as he’s been a starter since he was a freshman in 2021.

Moore has started in 24 games the past two seasons. He earned third-team All-Big Ten honors last season and was named an honorable mention in 2022.

All though the loss is devastating, the men in maize have Quinten Johnson and Makari Paige to fill the massive void in the secondary.
