Police: Man put pocket knife to someone’s throat amid fight at Downtown Ann Arbor store

Authorities looking for man after Monday incident

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Police were looking for a man who held a pocket knife to the throat of another person after an altercation at the Downtown Ann Arbor Target on Monday.

In a University of Michigan crime alert, officials said the man and victim bumped into each other while walking into the retailer, at 231 South State Street, around 8:40 p.m. The two had a “verbal altercation” and one man pulled out a pocket knife and put it against the throat of the victim before the man was pushed away.

Officials said both people continued to shop after the incident and left the store.

The suspect with the knife was described by the victim as being a 6-foot-tall Black man around 20 years old with short curly hair and a thin build. He was wearing a dark navy or black jacket.
