ANN ARBOR, Mich. – A car landed vertically on an Ann Arbor street sign after a woman drunkenly struck a wire attached to a pole, police said.

The crash happened around 3:40 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2024, at Lincoln Avenue and Wells Street.

Police said a 24-year-old Ypsilanti woman was driving the car with three other women as passengers. She struck a guide wire attached to a pole, and that caused the car to land on the street sign, officials said.

All four women were standing outside the car when police arrived. They were not injured.

Ann Arbor police said the woman had a blood-alcohol content of .17%. She was taken into custody.
