DETROIT – Michigan Wolverines national champion Kris Jenkins was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals at pick No. 49 in the second round of the NFL draft on Friday.
Jenkins, during the Wolverines championship run, was dominant as strength and one-arm power swaps were on full display in and outside of the Big House.
In 2023, the defensive tackle recorded a total of 37 tackles, including 10 solos and 20 assists. He also tallied 2.5 sacks, one fumble recovery, and one interception for nine yards.
Jenkins comes from a football family. His father, Darome Jenkins, was a four-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle in the National Football League and a two-time All-Pro.
After starting in all 15 games and helping the men in maize go undefeated with a 15-0 record, Kris was named to Third-team Associated Press All-American and Second-team All-Big-Ten Conference.
Coming into his senior season, Kris was named team captain, but at the end of the season, as the confetti fell, he was named the Wolverines Co-Defensive Player of the Year.
