Native Plant Expo returning to Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds this weekend

Free Ann Arbor event includes kid’s games, giveaway and vendors

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Pick up wheelbarrows full of native Michigan plants for your garden or yard during the fifth annual Native Plant Expo & Marketplace at the Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds on Saturday.

The free event will have local plant nurseries selling a variety of native flora, educational speakers and vendors. A children’s play space with music and games will be sponsored by the University of Michigan Matthaei Botanical Gardens & Nichols Arboretum.

Organizers, the Washtenaw County Conservation District, will give away three free potted milkweed plants and resources on Monarch Butterfly habitats.

Visitors can learn about native plant landscapes, protecting water, supporting native plants and volunteer options.

Where: Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds, at 5055 Ann Arbor-Saline Rd

When: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

The Native Plant Expo is supported by Washtenaw County Water Resources Commissioners Office, a local millage and Michigan businesses.
