Canton Township man charged with attempted murder in Ann Arbor shooting

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – A 23-year-old man from Canton Township was arrested Friday, May 31, in connection with an Ann Arbor shooting.

The shooting happened just before 2 a.m., May 3, near the intersection of Washtenaw Avenue and Huron Parkway. Police said a 32-year-old man was driving on Washtenaw Avenue when he was struck by gunfire. He drove himself to the University of Michigan Hospital for treatment.

His injuries were not life-threatening and he has since been released from the hospital.

According to authorities, police arrested Thelonius Williams -- a 23-year-old man from Canton -- in connection with the shooting. He was arraigned on charges of assault with intent to murder, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder or by strangulation and discharge from a vehicle causing injury.

Williams was given a $250,000 cash or surety bond, no 10% and remains lodged at the Washtenaw County Jail.
