Shakespeare in the Arb takes over Nichols Arboretum in June

Shakespeare in the Arb will have performances between June 6-30, 2024, at Nichols Arboretum.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Starting Thursday, audiences can join actors at the University of Michigan Nichols Arboretum for moving performances of Shakespeare’s “As You Like It.”

Performance will take place on Thursdays through Sundays between June 6 and June 30 for the 22nd season of Shakespeare in the Arb.

Each outdoor performance lasts three hours and requires audiences to move with actors to different locations within the nature area.

“As You Like It” is a comedy that follows the heroine, Rosalind, into a forest where she meets unique characters.

Here are the details:

Shows start at 6:30 p.m. Tickets can be picked up at the Nichols Arboretum Visitor Center, at 1610 Washington Heights, between 5-6 p.m. before performances.

Tickets can be bought in advance online through the Michigan Union Ticket Office website, by phone at 734-763-8587 or at the Ticket Office.

General admission costs $25. Youth and student tickets cost $15, and member tickets cost $20. Discounted $5 tickets will be available for children ages 5-18 during the June 23 event.

Audience members must bring their own chairs and should anticipate walking about a mile as they move around the Arb. Paths are not paved and involve slopes and stairs.
