Ann Arbor firefighters mobilized just after 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, to pull one child and two men from the river.

All three were hanging onto a tree in the water by Broadway Park, just east of the Broadway Bridge.

Fire department personnel were able to get life jackets and rescue lines to the child and one of the men, but a rescue boat was needed to secure the other man.

“We cannot stress enough the strength and speed of the Huron River’s current with recent rain. PLEASE WEAR A LIFE JACKET if on the Huron River. The Huron River is NOT a controlled “lazy river” like you would find at an amusement park,” officials wrote on social media.

No one was reported to have been taken to the hospital.
