ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Tiki, a 10-year-old pup at the Humane Society of Huron Valley, captured hearts in July when the Ann Arbor animal shelter shared stories of his Houdini-like ability to escape.
Sadly that hasn’t been enough to find the senior pup his forever home.

After his story got out, Tiki was adopted but the family found that he had separation anxiety. They couldn’t manage his needs and returned him to HSHV a week later.
“He is a very good boy whose heart’s desire is to be around people,” said HSHV CEO Tanya Hilgendorf. “We’re hoping he can find maybe someone in their golden years—a stay-at-home mom or dad, perhaps—to share their love with him, and he’ll definitely return the favor.”
HSHV officials said that Tiki needs to be an “only child.” He needs a home without small children and “pawrents” who can tend to his aches and pains.
Tiki’s future adopter will also get a free training session with Board-certified Applied Animal Behaviorist Dr. Camille Ward so they can have a more successful adoption.
