How stickers are helping prevent drinks being spiked at Ann Arbor bars

3K Nightcaps distributed across Ann Arbor

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – A student organization is teaming up with bars in Ann Arbor to help keep students safe.

The C.A.R.E.S student organization is distributing free drink covers to protect students from their drinks being spiked or roofied. They have teamed up with 16 bars that are spread around campus. They have also gifted covers to fraternities and sororities.

The drink covers, also known as Nightcaps, are customizable and cover the top of the drink. Funding for 3,000 Nightcaps was provided by student government.

C.A.R.E.S hopes that participants will continue to purchase Nightcaps to offer to patrons and that this will start a cultural shift, making optional drink covers available at all bars and events.

Nightcaps cost about 20 cents, but are cheaper if purchased in bulk.
