What Michigan coach Sherrone Moore said about Aidan Hutchinson injury, Jim Harbaugh illness

Michigan football coach spent time with Hutchinson, Harbaugh in Ann Arbor

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore spoke Monday about the injury to Aidan Hutchinson and Jim Harbaugh’s illness.

Hutchison broke his tibia and fibula while sacking Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott on Sunday. He had successful surgery, but it’s unlikely he will be able to return to the Lions this season.

Harbaugh, the head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, briefly left the sideline during Sunday’s game due to a flare-up of arrhythmia.

Harbaugh said he has atrial flutter, which at times causes his heart to beat at an abnormally high rate. He was treated by paramedics in the locker room and returned to the sideline before the end of the first quarter.

Moore knows both men well. He coached under Harbaugh for six years as a tight ends coach, offensive line coach, offensive coordinator, and interim head coach.

He was also on the Michigan coaching staff for all four years of Hutchinson’s college career, from 2018-2021.

Here’s what Moore said Monday:

“I really just want to -- I texted (Hutchinson),” Moore said. “Also, just want to say a prayer to him and his family. Horrific injury -- I mean what a great human being. Obviously, an outstanding player, but a great human being, and left a legacy here. I know he’s the heartbeat of that team. So really just want to say a prayer to him and his family, tell them that they’re in our thoughts.

“And also, Coach Harbaugh. Sent him a text. He’s going to the doctor today, so he’d better go. Hope he’s doing well. But just prayers to both of them."
