Burnett’s return is a significant boost for head coach Dusty May’s second year, as he is a three-and-D guy who can make clutch shots down the stretch of games.

He found a home with the Wolverines, and he had a breakout year under then-head coach Juwan Howard during his first season, averaging 9.6 points, four rebounds, and two assists while shooting close to 40% from the field and 35% from beyond the arc.

After Howard and Michigan split, May was hired and kept Burnett alongside Will Tschetter and Jace Howard to keep the team chemistry together.

Under May, Burnett started all 36 games for the men in maize during their Sweet 16 run in the men’s NCAA Tournament.

Burnett averaged nine points, three rebounds, and one assist per game while shooting 48% from the field and 40% from the three-point line to help Michigan win the Big Ten Tournament in Indianapolis.

He finished year four making 66 threes, including his buzzer-beating dagger three-pointer inside Crisler Center against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.
