SUMMARY OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, the HR Generalist plays a crucial role in GMG’s success. The HR Generalist is responsible for implementing best-in-class human resources programs while providing a wide range of HR support and guidance on recruitment, performance management, employee relations, and compliance. A true partner to our business leaders, the HR Generalist will help inspire positive change and cultivate a culture of excellence through diversity, collaboration, and innovation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Human Resources Strategy & Operations: Ensure current version of GMG policies and procedures, employment templates and benefits and training materials are posted internally and utilized. Input employment changes within Workday and conduct on-boarding/orientation of new hires, ensuring onboarding tasks are completed in timely manner. Review employee time records, process bi-weekly payroll and ensure payroll data accuracy. Responsible for records retention, personnel file maintenance, running reports to support completion of tasks. Serve as resource for general questions and ad hoc analyses. Handle basic employee relations issues. Test system changes for implementation rollout. Serves as LMS administrator for media hub.
Recruitment: Reinforce corporate recruitment branding with attention to corporate DEI strategic priorities. Assist in managing candidate marketing strategies and tasks for recruitment sourcing efforts in collaboration with HR Team and Hiring Managers as needed. Create and track open positions aging and sourcing report and update sourcing list. Provide support for interviewing/sourcing & hiring, including but not limited to:
- Maintain current job descriptions. Create job requisition and postings.
- Post openings on website and thru B1S; post on job boards as applicable, ensuring diversity in sourcing. Maintain/utilize appropriate vendor administration access with LinkedIn, iHire, BCL, EBF Monday, etc. to ensure outreach; manage invoices.
- Schedule and manage outreach - job fairs/career days, etc.
- Handle B1S administration, upload applicant logs/resumes, ensure FCC compliance – prepare and review EEO/FCC reports for online public file and company website; troubleshoot issues.
- Internship Program Administration – ensure candidate requirements, serve as a local point person for partnerships (e.g. Emma Bowen program and other programs).
- Maintain current employment templates; create/review all offer letters ensuring applicable and accurate verbiage, benefits and incentive plans as appropriate and monitor thru payroll.
- Conduct pre-employment background checks & drug testing and monitor. Troubleshoot issues.
- Onboarding/orientation of new hires – set up employee record/file, collect I-9 data, ensure various IT/building access, walk thru policies/procedures, programs, systems, (i.e., GHConnect, Workday), assign/monitor training; ensure acknowledgments are complete/tracked.
Benefit Administration: Assist local employees with navigating benefit programs; serve as in-house resource for benefits questions and liaison to additional resources such as GHConnect, askBenefits, GH Retirement Center, HealthAdvocate, EAP, Vanguard, The Hartford, LibertyMutual, Inspira and other vendors:
- Local point person for employee health & welfare / insurance programs, HCSA/DCSA/HSA, retirement / pension programs, 401K program
- Provide communication and benefit presentation materials for open enrollment; ensure enrollment is completed within 30 days of hire/life event; schedule and develop meetings for annual open enrollment. Run reports and verify data; troubleshoot issues.
- Manage FMLA or other leave programs for local employees (salary continuation, LTD, jury duty, bereavement, military, parental)
- Administer Workman’s Comp/OSHA; administer tuition reimbursement program and Gift of Knowledge program.
- Analysis and tracking, report creation/distribution, monitor scheduled compensation review programs to ensure completion. Conduct salary analysis as needed.
Payroll: Processes payroll (Workday software solutions) for Exempt, Non-Exempt and Commissioned employees. Responsible for analysis, tracking and reporting, and merit increase program working within personnel budgets.
Performance management: Work with leaders to ensure annual performance reviews are conducted in a timely manner. Run reports and verify completion. Respond to employees’ inquiries on process.
Training: Assign and monitor completion of compliance training; Cornerstone resource/administrator, run reports for compliance and address issues.
Terminations: Ensure documentation is in order, prepare and deliver as needed local separation packages/releases and exit materials as needed; conduct local employee exit interviews.
Culture & Engagement: Foster a positive, inclusive culture as a DEI champion. Provide general ERG program session support as needed. Assist with events such as arranging for community service days and recognition events. Maintain internal communication/Intranet (DEI) content updates.
Project Management: Coordinate/lead special projects as designated and implement program initiatives as necessary. Program initiatives may include, but not limited to:
- Monitoring Graham Excellence award nominations.
- Supporting audits, salary analysis/reviews; assisting with vendor research and program pilots.
- Monitoring and tracking survey completion.
- Administering emergency disaster fund programs and GMG Service Anniversary awards program.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business, or another field strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR Generalist experience required.
- Prior experience working with labor unions required.
Skills & Abilities
- Deep understanding of local, state and federal employment laws.
- Excellent communication, organization, and detail-orientation.
- Able to influence without authority and effect positive change through relationship building and conflict resolution.
- Customer service mindset, with high level of professionalism and discretion, and a track record of building positive relationships.
- Proficiency in HR systems/technologies and Microsoft Office suite. Experience with Workday strongly desired.
- Confident self-starter with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Work Environment
- This role is on-site in a typical office environment.
