ROYAL OAK, Mich. – This weekend kicks off the 37th annual Royal Oak Chamber garage sale, touted as the largest garage sale in the world.

It's not your average garage sale. For starters, it takes three floors of a parking structure.

New this year, the Chamber of Commerce is bringing in specialized food trucks to set up around the garage sale so people can eat and shop in one place.

A two-day shopping spree

High end, low end and every item in-between will be on display and ready for purchase for bargain hunters.

"Not many garage sales get fourteen-thousand people past their driveway in our neighborhood," says Shelly Kemp of the Royal Oak Chamber of Commerce.

Jeremy Roy is the owner of Wooden Hangers in Royal Oak and is putting his merchandise on the garage sale display for the first time.

"This is amazing because a lot of people get to see the things that we have at a bargain," says Roy. "A lot of things come from New York, Europe, all over, and there's a really good sale on it."

Something for everyone

Over 170 vendors will invade the Lafayette parking structure come Saturday morning.

While Roys's table will be full of the finer things, Kemp says there's definitely something for everyone.

"Hand-made purses, hand-made jewelry, nuts and bolts, and doggie pooper scoopers," says Kemp. "They have everything under the sun, and things from other planets.

Shoppers can shop until they drop until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
