Downtown Detroit Markets & Cadillac Lodge, through Sunday: The holidays may be over, but you have one last chance to soak in that spirit in the final weekend of the markets and lodge. Grab a present for yourself or for someone special through the specially curated walkway of local vendors selling books, specialty treats, home goods and more. Wild Lights (Detroit Zoo), through Sunday: It’s your last chance to see millions of twinkling LED lights will light up the Detroit Zoo bringing cheer to the park’s storied trees and buildings, as well as light tunnels and sculptures. Monroe Street Midway, through Sunday: Make one last stop to the midway! Right in the heart of Downtown Detroit, you’ll find a winter wonderland of activities including a 20-foot arctic slide, winter bumper cars, winter puck-putt and tasty treats. The Midway is free to enter, most activities free. Open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursdays and Sundays, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. More info here.
Fire & Ice Festival (Valade Park), Friday to Sunday: It’s a celebration of the elements right at the Detroit Riverfront. Warm up in oversized fires and explore larger-than-life ice carvings. Guests can grab photos with Frozen’s Elsa or at the iron ice throne. Along with archery and axe throwing, there will be plenty of live entertainment all day long including roaming Renaissance performers, Flames & Dames, Randal Lee Wizard Show and more. Northern Lights (Beacon Park), ongoing: Step inside the warm glow of larger-than-life light displays. Go inside a 15-foot infinity snow globe, a walkthrough snowflake, gleaming polar bears, sparkling presents and more. 125,000 recyclable LED light bulbs provide a warm glow to the Downtown park making it a perfect picture spot for the whole family. The Rink at Royal Oak (Centennial Commons), ongoing: You still have plenty of time to tie those laces and go skating in the 60 by 90′ downtown rink. All-day skating is $10 and rentals are $5.
