DETROIT – Free outdoor yoga classes will be held in parks throughout Detroit nearly every day this summer.

Free classes will be available in the evenings on weekdays and in the mornings on weekends starting Saturday, June 1. Hosted by Yoganic Flow in partnership with the Detroit Parks Coalition, the classes will be held in a different Detroit park each day.

Here’s when and where free yoga classes will be held this summer:

🧘🏽 Mondays: 6 p.m. at Eliza Howell Park by the stickwork sculpture.

🧘🏽 Wednesdays: 6 p.m. at Clark Park by the ice rink.

🧘🏽 Thursdays: 6 p.m. at Pallister Park.

🧘🏽 Saturdays: 9 a.m. at Palmer Park by the community garden, and 10 a.m. at Chandler Park by the playscape.

🧘🏽 Sundays: 9 a.m. at Rouge Park by the basketball courts.

The free outdoor classes will run until Sept. 1.

Yoga mats will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis, organizers said. It wasn’t clear how many mats they had to offer.

Because the classes are held outdoors, they are reliant on good weather. If a class is to be canceled because of rain or another issue, Yoganic Flow will post the cancelation on their Instagram page here at least an hour before the class time.

The free yoga classes are available to people of “all ages and abilities,” officials said. Those interested in attending are encouraged to pre-register for a class, though registration is not required.

You can register for classes on Yoganic Flow’s website here. Note: Their website still showed their schedule of indoor free classes, which were winding down before the summer classes begin.

Yoganic Flow has been offering free classes in Detroit since 2015 as part of its mission to ”make yoga accessible in the urban community.”
