Cass Technical High School is celebrating its 100 year anniversary the weekend of Jan 22-24.
The Cass Tech Alumni Association (CTAA) is hosting several events.
"It's a chance for alumni to reconnect with our students," said Monique Bryant from the Class of 1985.
The events schedule includes:
Friday: Meet & Greet Friday evening at the Motor City Soundboard.
Saturday: A Tour of Cass Tech High School, A Fundraising Dinner Gala (6pm Green Carpet & Cocktails)(7:30pm Dinner & Special Performances). Both events at the Soundboard,
There is also an after party Saturday evening at the Soundboard.
Sunday: Fundraising brunch at Motor City Club Amnesia.
There is a cost for each event.
"We are raising money for programs for the students," said Bryant. "We launching several projects, including an all-male mentoring program, a life-skills course for all sophomore students and speaker series."
Dr. John Kamar, Class of 1965, said the speaker series is a great way for alumni to give back. "Anybody with special talent - we are encouraging them - or any alum who can come be a part of it. We feel if we get the alumni stronger and stronger, it's an advantage because DPS doesn't have to pay us."
Kamar added, "I go back 50 years. And we were so large, so diverse and so close. The only thing I can liken it to was the movie Fame. We had so much talent and diversity that we didn't think or know about not liking each other."
The weekend events also include an 8:45am Sunday service at Triumph Church's North Campus.
