Playtex recalls electric breast pump

Potential electric shock warning issued for new mothers

The risk of an electric shock will have plenty of new mothers checking their breast pumps.

Playtex has announced a voluntary recall of certain AC/DC power adapters used with the Playtex Nurser Deluxe Double Electric Breast Pump.

It says the casing on some adapters may become loose and separate, resulting in the potential for electric shock. Consumers should immediately discontinue use of the adapter if it shows signs of separating.

Playtex says no injuries have been reported, and the recall is being done out of an abundance of caution.

What You Need to Know

The affected adapters were manufactured from November 2012 through July 2013. The product can be identified by product serial number (P12324-XXXX through P13205-XXXX). Alternatively, the product can be identified by adapter production code (1241 through 1324). The adapters were sold along with the Playtex Nurser Deluxe Double Electric Breast Pump. The adapters were not sold separately.

The Playtex Nurser Deluxe Double Electric Breast Pump was sold at nationwide, specialty and online retailers. Playtex is notifying its retail partners to return any remaining products with affected AC/DC adapters.
