Those 4th of July fireworks can be dangerous if you don’t do things right, which is why the Consumer Product Safety Commission issued its annual fireworks report, and the numbers are shocking.
Thousands of ER visits will happen over the next few days all because of fireworks.

They’re bright, colorful, and fun, but fireworks can be deadly.
No one knows that better than Kim Smith, who sold fireworks Monday (July 3) in Macomb County, but several years ago, a fireworks accident killed her cousin.
“He had a boot on his leg and he didn’t realize that when he turned he knocked over the tube and when he did, the tube shot him in the neck,” said Smith.
It is so critically important that you exercise extreme caution, especially children who must be supervised at all times.
The numbers are shocking as firework injuries in 2022:

- Children under 12 most likely to be injured
- Improper use and storage of fireworks is the most common cause of accident

In 2021, NHL goalie Matiss Kivlenieks lost his life in Novi after a firework misfired. The 24-year-old died shortly after the accident.
